The Women, Infant, and Children (WIC) program in Washington state is temporarily not going to be affected by the government shut down.
Washington residents who are a part of the Women, Infants and Children program, known as WIC, will not be impacted by the government shutdown. A spend it forward contingency plan is providing the program in Washington enough funding to stay open for the next nine days.
Because of this WIC is able to maintain business as usual for a total of nine days. Offices and clinics will stay open unless the Department of Health says otherwise. WIC checks will still be honored and Papich said they don’t anticipate any grocery stores turning them away.
