Referrals are made to local organizations like Residential Care Services or Adult Protective Services. LTCO also collaborates with Aging and Long Term Care of Eastern Washington.Volunteers with the SNAP Long-Term Care Ombudsman program stand on guard for residents of assisted living centers, adult family homes and nursing homes in Spokane County and four other Eastern Washington counties. Volunteers alert the proper authorities to a variety of concerns such as inadequate care, abuse, insufficient nutrition, financial fraud and issues with medications.

The program covers the cost of mileage and provides ongoing training and support for volunteers.

Screening for the next group of LTCO volunteers is currently underway. Training is scheduled for Sept. 11-12 and 18-19 at the SNAP Fort Wright building (3102 W. Fort George Wright Drive near Spokane Falls Community College).

St. Lawrence House Hospitality

We need adult men and women to welcome and assist visitors. St. Lawrence House is a neighborhood gathering place where our guests can stop in to cool off in the summer, warm up in the winter, enjoy coffee and refreshments, pick up a book from our library, use a computer or simply visit with one another. We offer showers and laundry to those in need, and our direct services staff provide referrals to other needed services. Volunteers will welcome visitors, provide hospitality, keep records of guests using shower and laundry services, and help with daily cleanup.
