Welcome Home! A Community Tribute to All Veterans

When:  Doors open at noon; celebration at 1 p.m.
Where: Felts Field, Historic Northwest Airlines Hangar, 6105 E. Rutter Ave., Spokane Valley
Event Details:  Honored guests include Col. Brian McDaniel, Wing Commander, Fairchild AFB; and David Condon, Mayor of Spokane. Keynote address presented by Chief Master Sergeant James McCoy, USAF, Ret. Also featured will be Mt. Spokane High School Marching Band, Spokane Brass Works, vintage aircraft and other military displays.

Veterans Day Ceremony: Honoring Those Who Served

When: 10 a.m.
Where: Spokane Arena, 720 W. Mallon Ave
Event Details:  Welcome and introductions at 10 a.m. Master of Ceremonies is Nick Sangil (USMC veteran), Mann-Grandstaff (Spokane) VA Medical Center; Presentation of Colors by Joint Military Color Guard, various speakers. Doors open at 9 a.m. The Veterans Display on the concourse will be available for viewing immediately following the ceremony until 12 noon.

Free Meals:

  • Applebee’s: Veterans and active duty service members can choose a dish from Applebee’s free “Thank You Meal” menu on Nov. 11. There will be seven entrées to choose from, beverage and gratuity not included. Military ID or proof of service required. For more information and a list of locations, visit
  • Chili’s: All military veterans past and present will have their choice of one of seven meals during the dinner hour, or any lunch combo during lunch. Dine-in from limited menu only; beverages and gratuity not included. Veterans and active duty military simply show proof of military service. Visit to find locations.
  • Denny’s: Free Build Your Own Grand Slam to active, non-active and retired military. Dine-in only.
  • Old European: Old European offers free meals for active and retired military in observance of Veterans Day from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. (7640 N. Division St.)
  • Little Euro: Free meals for active and retired military in observance of Veterans Day from 7 a.m.-2 p.m. (517 N. Pines Road)

Free Hair Cuts:

  • Great Clips: Customers come into any Great Clips salon on Nov. 11 and with the purchase of a service, receive a free haircut card to give to a veteran to be used Nov. 11-Dec. 31.
