Event Description: 2014 Festival of Fair Trade – Supporting local Spokane area businesses and communities in need around the globe. This year’s festival beginning at 10 a.m. celebrates Ganesh Himal Trading’s 30 Years of Fair Trade in Nepal, and will feature handcrafts, clothing, jewelry, pottery and more. These sweatshop-free items are imported by local fair trade businesses who work directly with craftspeople and small farmers in Nepal, Mexico, Guatemala and Chile. Your purchase of fairly traded products supports small cottage industries, cooperatives and economic development in some of the world’s poorest regions. In conjunction with the festival, Ric Conner co-owner of Ganesh Himal Trading, will be presenting “Looking Back, Looking Foward: A retrospective slide presentation celebrating 30 years of Fair Trade in Nepal” at Auntie’s Bookstore on Nov. 29 at 3 p.m.

Event Description: Celebrate C.S. Lewis’ 116th Birthday – Readings based on “The Screwtape Letters,” “The Problem of Pain” and “The Great Divorce” begin at 2:30 p.m. Kids activities and readings from the Narnia books begin at 4 p.m. The events will feature James and Joan Becker, of The Lion’s Share, along with members of the West Central community.

Event Description: Spokane Winter Glow Spectacular – “All Dressed Up in Lights,” the park is getting dressed up for the holidays with more than 25 lighted displays. Featuring an Animal Light Zoo and wagon and carriage rides available.
