Event Description: Preparing to Meet Your Bundle of Joy: Saturday Childbirth Class – This one-day class spends an entire day devoted to learning the nuances of the journey through labor and delivery. We focus on natural breathing and relaxation techniques and practice prenatal exercises using birthing balls, while taking time for small guided imagery segments for teaching relaxation. Our nurses will walk you through the logistics of labor and how your body will prepare to bring your baby into the world. You will learn how to best time your arrival at the hospital as we discuss both non-medicated and medicated births. Short birth-stories are viewed and any and all questions will be answered in this introduction into parenthood. Prepare to meet your bundle of joy! (Class breaks for lunch on your own.) Event Description: Gingerbread Build Off – This annual event, which is a fundraiser for Christ Kitchen, finds teams of the region’s finest bakers and architects competing to build the most imaginative gingerbread houses. The Gingerbread Build Off is free to attend, but gingerbread house kits are $7.

Event Description: Holiday Lights at Gaiser Conservatory – Dec. 12-21,  The conservatory is decorated with thousands of lights along with poinsettia, mums, and a warm climate. Best viewing is after 4 p.m. An open house takes place Dec. 13-14 from 4:30-7:30 p.m., for refreshments.

Event Description: Spokane Poetry Slam – Spokane Poetry Slam is competitive performance poetry. Poets have three minutes to present their original work without costumes, props or musical accompaniment. (Nov. 17 will be held at 7 p.m. and poets are allowed to read poetry written by someone else who is living and are Spokane-affiliated and must present written permission from original poet). Audience judges chosen at random score the poem and the highest cumulative score after two rounds of poetry wins the $50 grand prize. This is loud and raucous, and audience participation is highly encouraged. Content is not censored. Held the third Monday of the month at 8 p.m. ***$5 to compete or audience member**

Event Description: Tween Club: Clue Done It– Tween club, 3rd Tuesday of the month at 4 p.m. Just for tweens in grades 4 and up. Join us every month as we have some snacks, make things, play games, and more! On Dec. 16, a crime has been committed, and we need your help to solve it. Follow the trail of clues o find out who’s behind this dastardly deed, how it was done, and why. See you at the scene of the crime.

Event Description: Daddy 101 – A “crash course” evening that captures the unique experience that fatherhood brings. Men will be inspired and equipped for their transition into fatherhood. In this class, Dads will learn the basic skills they need to navigate through their child’s early stages. Event Description: Spokane Valley Partners Distribution – Those who apply for food assistance will receive items to prepare their Christmas dinner in their regular food distribution. Hours of operation are: Wednesdays, 11 a.m.-1 p.m., and 1:30-3:45 p.m.; Thursdays, 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Thursday Food Bank visits are by appointment only for advanced age seniors and/or physical handicapped (individuals ages 70 and over and/or handicapped in a mobility-limiting manner). To make an appointment, please call. Current address verification is required for all adults in the household for every visit. Mail or documents must be dated within the last 30 days and reflect adult’s name and current street address with zip code. Examples include: utility bill, phone bill, personal mail, rent receipt or lease agreement.
