Free Summer Program Being Offered in the Emerson Garfield Neighborhood of Spokane

The Stone Soup Café is part of the USDA Summer Food Program, for children 18 years and younger, and a creative play activities program for children 3 – 14 years old.  The Café is being hosted St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 2404 N Howard (on the corner of Howard & Carlisle), Spokane.  Breakfast is served from 8:30 am – 9:15 am and lunch from 11:45 am – 12:30 pm. The activities program is 9:00  – 11:45 a.m.  If children participate in the meals and activities program, the program goes from 8:30 am – 12:30 p.m.  It is a 10-week program, which begins Monday, June 22 and ends Friday, August 28th.

Inland Northwest Female Summit

The 1st Annual Inland Northwest Female Summit (INWFS) is a free leadership program serving young women, specifically first-generation, low-income, and multicultural women populations in the greater Inland Northwest. The INWFS theme is “Girl on Fire,” which means to find and ignite your passion … to be on fire for social justice, feminism, and education. The target audience for the Female Summit is students in grades 8–12. The event takes place on Saturday, January 24, 2015, 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. The location is Spokane Community College.
